Meet Alexis

A neighbor-first approach to local leadership.

Alexis Mapel is running for Moraga Town Council because the town’s future should be shaped by the people who call it home. This campaign is grounded in listening closely, asking practical questions, and making decisions with care.

With a deep respect for Moraga’s neighborhoods, open spaces, and community spirit, Alexis  believes local leadership works best when it is transparent, prepared, and connected to everyday life. Alexis Mapel is a Moraga resident, parent, healthcare leader, and active community member who is committed to preserving the qualities that make Moraga such a special place to live and raise a family. Personally, she and her husband, Brian moved to Moraga 6 years ago with their two young daughters. Her parents also recently moved from NY to Moraga to be close to her family, which has given her great perspective on multiple generations living in Moraga. Alexis and her family love hiking in the Moraga hills, walking the trail, attending Moraga events (especially when they include bounce houses) and spending time with family and friends. Community is important to the entire family Professionally, Alexis serves as West Regional Director at Dyne Therapeutics and brings extensive experience in strategic leadership, healthcare operations, team development, and cross-functional collaboration. Throughout her career, she has worked with diverse stakeholders to solve complex problems, develop responsible plans, manage competing priorities, and ensure that the voices of patients and communities are represented in decision-making. Alexis is seeking to serve on the Moraga Town Council to bring a thoughtful, collaborative, and practical approach to local government. Her priorities include protecting Moraga’s open spaces and parks, supporting responsible development that meets the community’s evolving needs, maintaining the town’s fiscal health and infrastructure, and creating meaningful opportunities for residents to participate in decisions that affect them. As a parent and community member, Alexis understands the importance of strong schools, well-maintained public spaces, and a local government that is transparent and responsive. She believes effective leadership begins with listening, respecting different perspectives, and working toward solutions that serve the entire community. She currently serves as Chair of the Planning Commission, on which she has served for over four years. Alexis would be honored to bring her professional leadership experience, community perspective, and commitment to public service to the Moraga Town Council.
